What verified means

Fast is easy. Right is the whole job. Here is the bar the badge has to clear, in writing.

What earns the badge

  • A specific happening: one event, at a place, on a date. Not a list of events, not a guide, not a calendar page.
  • A source we checked: every verified event is traced to the page that announces it, and that link ships with the event.
  • Evidence you can read: the card shows how we verified it, when we checked, and a snippet from the source where we have one.
  • A date inside your coverage window and a location inside your coverage area.

What never earns it

  • Listicles, guides, and calendar index pages. “Things to do this weekend” is a page about events, not an event. It never wears the badge.
  • News articles, service notices, and website names.
  • Anything whose source page we could not reach. Unreachable means unverified, and unverified means it waits in your review queue.
  • A guessed time. When we are not sure of the start time, we say so and link the source page instead of printing a wrong clock reading.

Social sources play by the same rules

Events we find on Facebook, and events we read from venue images and flyers, go through the same gate and the same checks as everything else. Nothing earns the badge just because a venue posted it, and image-read events always say so in their evidence.

The human layer

You curate, we do the hunt. Every verified event still passes through your board, where one click confirms it or dismisses it. Your verdict outranks ours: an event you mark verified stays verified, an event you dismiss stays dismissed, and no research run ever overwrites a decision you made. The badge is a promise that the grunt work was done and shown, never a replacement for your judgment or your voice.

When we get one wrong

It will happen, and hiding it would cost you the trust this whole product exists to protect. When an event fails a re-check, it loses the badge and moves to your review queue with the reason shown. When we find a class of mistakes, we fix the engine, remove what it got wrong, and say so. If you spot something we missed, tell us: dave@poweredbypiland.com.
